What is Orchestra Academy?

Orchestra Academy is a music program for children grades 4 and up in Denver and Brighton. It's a fantastic way for kids to create beautiful melodies together, but also a platform for personal growth and skill development. Through the magic of music, kids will discover the joy of teamwork, discipline, and creativity.

Your kids will learn to play their chosen instrument, understand musical theory, and develop a keen ear for harmonies. From the enchanting melodies of the violin to the strong tones of the bass, they’ll explore a diverse range of instruments, fostering a deep appreciation for music’s rich tapestry.

Beyond the notes and scales, our program fosters social connections that last a lifetime. By collaborating with peers, kids will build friendships and a strong sense of community. Plus, the exhilaration of performing on stage will boost their confidence and self-expression.

Lisa Violin Right

Violin

The smallest and highest-pitched string instrument.

The violin has a bright, clear sound that often carries the main melody.

It plays a leading role in the orchestra and is frequently featured.

Viola

Slightly larger than the violin, the viola has a warmer, deeper tone.

It often fills in the middle harmonies, helping connect the high and low sounds of the orchestra.

Cello

The cello produces a rich, full sound in a lower register.

It can play both melody and harmony, adding depth and emotional weight to the music.

Bass

The largest and lowest-pitched string instrument, the double bass, provides a deep, resonant foundation to the music.

It supports the entire orchestra by anchoring the rhythm and harmony.

Beware of VSOs

When looking for instruments online, be sure to avoid what we like to refer to as “Violin-shaped objects”. Although the price may be enticing, many instruments in this category will cause more harm than good.
